18 police officers trained in combating online sexual exploitation
Eighteen police officers from various units including Interpol (NCB Kampala), Forensic Services, Cyber Crime Unit, Criminal Investigations, Immigration, Child and Family Protection Unit, and Aviation Police have successfully completed a week-long training program focused on combating online sexual exploitation. The training took place at Kabira Country Club in Kampala and was sponsored by the Regional Operations Centre in Support of the Khartoum Process, the African Union, the Horn of Africa Initiative, and the EAPCCO.

SP Dr. Auma Sylvia, representing the Directorate of Interpol and International Relations, emphasized the importance of integrating IT skills, particularly in online investigations related to sexual offenses and trafficking. She highlighted the dangers posed by the dark net and other internet platforms exploited by criminals. Dr. Sylvia urged the public to remain vigilant and report such cases promptly to the police for appropriate action.
